Let's Go!

As second cycle elementary ESL teachers, we are handed the challenge of guiding our young students from mainly oral comprehension and production into the next level of language acquisition, where they start reading and writing in English too. This collection of handouts aims to provide you with all the tools you need to support your students’ learning of basic writing skills (from simple sentences to paragraphs), while also providing examples and graphic organizers to lead your students step-by-step in structuring their ideas and in writing various fundamental text types (e.g. information, description, explanation, narrative, and various texts for social occasions). The handouts are presented in such a way that they can be used as stand-alone classroom material, or as a tool to reinforce skills learned with the standard curriculum. The answer key is included.
